Leon Lewis, Jr. began his new role last month as Shaw University’s Chief Information Officer.
Lewis has an extensive career of over 30 years in information technology and IT strategic development. Prior to joining Shaw University, Lewis served as the Chief Information Officer at Illinois Wesleyan University, guiding its IT department toward operational excellence. Additionally, Lewis worked as Director of ITS Enterprise Information Systems at South Piedmont Community College, where he spearheaded impactful software migration projects.
Throughout his career in previous IT positions, Lewis has managed strategic planning, business process management, ERP and CRM, technology architecture and integration, ITIL service and support, systems migrations, e-commerce applications, web development, business intelligence, and service-oriented architecture.
“It’s a tremendous honor to join the Shaw University family,” Lewis said. “I am fully committed to contributing my skillset to meet and exceed the academic and administrative technological needs of our community.”
Dr. Paulette Dillard, President of Shaw University, added that Lewis’ “wealth of experience in higher education IT management will be an invaluable resource for our campus community.”
Shaw University, located in Raleigh, North Carolina, is the first historically Black institution of higher education founded in North Carolina and is among the oldest in the nation.
